For individuals / Entities:

The TIN is known in Indonesia as Nomor Pokok Wajib Pajak (NPWP).
Generally, NPWP is not assigned automatically. It is only given to eligible taxpayers who fulfill requirements in accordance with law.

Format:

NPWP is comprised by 15 numeric digits (format: 99.999.999.9-999.999) with the following details:
the first 9 digits are unique identity of taxpayer
the next 3 digits are the code for tax office where the taxpayer registered for the first time;
the last 3 digits are code for central or branch status
