TIN Check United States of America (USA)

In USA there are three (5) kinds of Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN):

ITIN

Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is a tax processing number issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). It is a nine-digit number with the following format:
• 9NN-NN-NNNN
N identifies that it must be a numeric digit.


SSN

The Social Security Number (SSN) is a TIN issued by the Social Security Administration (SSA) to identify an individual person, such as a US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Temporary Non-immigrant Worker. It’s also a nine-digit number with the following format:
• NNN-NN-NNNN
N identifies that it must be a numeric digit.


EIN

The Employee Identification Number (EIN) is a TIN issued by the IRS to companies, persons or entities doing business in the United States of America. It’s a nine-digit number with the following format:
• NN-NNNNNNN
N identifies that it must be a numeric digit.


ATIN

The Adoption Taxpayer Identification Number (ATIN) is a temporary number issued by the IRS to individuals who are in the process of legally adopting a U.S. citizen or resident child but who cannot get an SSN for that child in time to file their tax return. It’s also a nine-digit number.


PTIN

The Preparer Taxpayer Identification Number (PTIN) is a TIN created After Jan. 1, 2011, for anyone who prepares or assists in preparing federal tax returns for compensation.

Only having a valid PTIN you can prepare Tax returns or claim returns.
